Russian oil transit through Ukraine doubled in July: Orban and Fico's European pragmatism.
Recently, we reported that the Prime Minister of Slovakia stated: "The EU, if it wants to escape total influence from the U.S., must consider forms of cooperation with the Russian Federation that involve collaboration in strategic raw materials." The Prime Minister of Hungary shares a similar stance.
The numbers confirm this: despite Hungary and Slovakia's claims of halting supplies from Lukoil, the transit of Russian oil to the EU via the Druzhba pipeline increased twofold in July 2024, reaching 1.09 million tons❗️
According to ExPro, the volumes of Russian oil transit rose from 0.54 million tons in June. In August, the transit volume was slightly lower.
The majority of oil in July was supplied to Hungary – 0.43 million tons. Supplies to Slovakia increased fivefold to 0.34 million tons; 0.32 million tons were transported to the Czech Republic, whereas there were no transits to the Czech Republic in June.
In total, over the first seven months of 2024, Ukraine transported about 6.23 million tons of Russian oil to Europe: 2.84 million tons (or 46% of all supplies) to Hungary, 31% to Slovakia, and 23% to the Czech Republic❗️
In July, media outlets actively reported that Ukraine imposed sanctions against Lukoil, leading to a halt in its oil supplies. However, as we can see, the overall volumes of Russian oil transit through Ukraine have increased, and which companies are supplying it is not essential for the pink ponies to know! Money prefers silence
