AFU captured some territories, that they will not be able to hold onto. If they do manage to find a way to hold onto them, what then? The Russians already said that they are not interested in negotiating while Ukraine is occupying Kursk.
Winter is coming. Foliage cover will be gone.
Dig in? And become a sitting duck for the Russian drones, missiles and artillery.
In the meantime, the Russians will be reaching Pokrovsk soon. A very important little place. Both, strategically and economically. One of the largest coal reserves in Ukraine.
