Common sense bounces off hubris. This is what happens when the US thinks they could put the boot into Putin by weaponising the USD, SWIFT, and confiscating sovereign assets. And Putin/Xi said "Thank you" for messaging globally about the risks of holding USD assets and the currency itself. The BRI was a prudent move and at the time I didn't understand this strategy until @Cosmoterios pointed out the risks of only having one SE Asia sea passage.
If Trump's public political rhetoric can be believed, he will just replace Ukraine war with a China trade war and double down on Israel's violence. We could find ourselves here being the new Germany and just in time for the massive Simandou project in Guinea to come online. We just replaced NG with IO. Never a dull moment.
