I see where you are coming from but you can't win a war if you have limitations put on you. I think Ukraine is stuffed and the main reason is the Russians can pump out military equipment from their industrial facilities because they are pretty much off limits with NATO weapons whereas Ukraine literally has no industrial complex left and has to beg for weapons from the West but even when they get them, they come with restrictions.
The best means of defense if offence but in the case of Kursk, Ukraine lacks the hard ware and man power to make a real go of it. That map showed the danger, if they over commit the could be cut off ala Stalingrad in WW2.
