How is doing mutual benefit interests seen as selling out to China. A product whether it is manufactured and dug out is only as good as the demand. If you remember the 2008 GFC when stock markets globally were decimated including economies, I didn't hear anyone complaining Chinese mother of all infrastructure spent insuring all our economic downside.
Study the current German economy, it's previous competitive edge was cheap Russian energy. That manufacturing base is migrating overseas to the next Russian goodwill country, China. Some are also migrating to the US for all sorts of economic sense.
If we suddenly cut off all our exports to China, who will take up the slack? Your Twiggys and Ginas will start bleeding wealth value from their mines, ditto farmers, meat exports, seafood. Etc. And you think Uncle Sam will do the honor to come save us or the German style "goodwill" gestures?
