The main trade is Russian tourists coming to Nha Trang and some legacy investments from the 70s/80s. Vietnam's growth in trade and relations is with Western allied neighbours (Japan and South Korea).
Saigon has tonnes of South Korean expats calling it home from the heavy investment in residential and commercial real estate. They've also picked up manufacturing for Korean and Japanese companies post covid as they diversified away from China.
There is still some communist era russian shopping malls in Vietnam but they're largely derelict. The new subway system being built is with Japanese partners etc.
