he thought the russ would cream the Ukries quickly and he could get away with it before anyone knew the slightest bit about it and he'd have control of Ukraine ....he always said he was going to take back the things HE CONSIDERED belionged to russia ....he actually did give advance warning
it wasn't to do with NATO or security and russias security positon now way worse in many ways because of his very ill considered war I could write pages on the way putin has stuffed russ security through this war ....and apart from a little bit ....the bulk of Ukraine is still free of russia and independant and is going to stay that way
