The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, A. Syrsky, yesterday suspended Roman Hladkyi, the Chief of Staff of the UAV Command, from his duties while the Security Service of Ukraine conducts an investigation into possible treason, corruption, and his family's ties to Russia.

Earlier, Marjana Bezuhla reported that General Hladkyi's wife and daughter hold Russian citizenship. It seems that this officer has also received a "black spot."

Hladkyi served as the Chief of Staff of the Ukrainian Navy from July 2016 to April 2018 but was relieved of his position due to a media scandal: journalists uncovered that his daughter "participated in swimming competitions for the Central Sports Club of the Army of Russia," and there were claims that Hladkyi himself was approached for recruitment.

Currently, the UAV Command has stated that the newly appointed Hladkyi underwent a security check by the Security Service of Ukraine in 2018-2019 and "has clearance to work with highly classified information." They added that the Chief of Staff is an officer with many years of service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, "possessing the appropriate military education and significant experience in leadership positions." Notably, from 2020 to 2023, he served as Deputy Chief of Staff of the Joint Forces Command and later as Deputy Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, having undergone training in Canada.
