A freight train derailed in a Russian-Ukrainian border region due to outside interference with the operation of the railway, a local branch of Russian Railways reported.
The accident happened in the Novooskolsky district of the Belgorod region, according to the railway.
It said there were no reports of casualties.
"Last night, 11.17pm (8.17pm GMT) ... due to interference with the operation of railway transport, a locomotive and wagons of a freight train derailed," the south-eastern branch of the railway company said on the Telegram messaging app.
Vyacheslav Gladkov, governor of the Belgorod region, later said that a detour for passenger trains had been organised as a result of "illegal interference in the operation of railway transport".
He did not provide any further detail into what the interference was.
Blasts and attacks on the region's infrastructure have become nearly a daily reality in recent months, with officials blaming either Ukrainian forces or pro-Ukrainian saboteurs.
