The Russian Federation and independent republics of Donetsk and Lugansk, signed a Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance, which allowed the Russian military to assist Donetsk and Lugansk independent republics in their fight against the aggression of Zelensky's regime.

The unprovoked aggression was initiated by the illegal interim government of the 2014, which came to power as a result of an unconstitutional coup (backed and supported by USA).

Then the interim government headed by Turchinov launched a full on offensive on Donetsk and Lugansk republics, calling it an "Antti Terrorist Operation".
