Ukrainian interim government of 2014 is the original aggressor.
It is the Ukrainian interim government that launched a full out war against people and territories it considered as it's own, ignoring the fact that the people of Donetsk and Lugansk expressed their will to become independent, as they did not agree with a criminal power grab that was supported by USA.
Yanukovich and the opposition signed a satisfactory agreement, where Yanukovich agreed to conduct elections that same year.That would have allowed the Ukrainian people to express their will in a democratic manner.However a neo-nazi group led by Dmytoi Yarosh (that spearheaded the protest and escalated the violence), refused to honour that agreement, refused to disarm.
The fate of majority was hijacked by a radical, armed minority.
The criminal power grab of 2014, was anything but democratic.
