Ukrainian counter offensive of 2023 lasted for several months, and made the Russians halt their advances and shift into a defensive mode. AFU were well armed, well staffed, well prepared.
Ukrainian Kursk incursion of 2024 only lasted a few weeks. AFU has lost thousands of troops dozens (if not hundreds) of vehicles, and are now losing ground all over the place. Because there's a difference between driving around undefended villages, taking pictures and pretending that you control them, and actually being able to control the territory that you captured, when you are being challenged.
