Russia's economy suffers another major blow

Income from crude oil shipments in Russia has dropped to its lowest level in eight months, it has been reported, potentially complicating spending plans Vladimir Putin is committed to in keeping his country on a war footing.

Russia's average daily oil-processing levels between September 12 and 18 dropped to 5.28 million barrels, the lowest weekly level since late June, Bloomberg said.

It said vessel-tracking data found that 27 tankers loaded 20.23 million barrels of Russian crude in the week to September 22, which was down from a revised 22.95 million barrels on 31 ships the previous week.

However, the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control has added pressure on Russian exports by asking at least one shipping insurer for information on 14 companies it suspects may have violated sanctions on Russian oil.
