military production may add to GDP ......but it adds no value to the economy- it actually detracts form it .....guns and ammo don't generate income ....they get destroyed in use .....but there is a cost to their production .......and for larger weapons a cost to fuel and maintain ....... as is the case of the personnel in putins army .....cost to enlist ....pay...... feed ...equip ....house ....bury ......pay the relatives
Afghanistan was enough to finish the USSR financialy ......Ukraine though is an industrial scale war ....much bigger and more demanding of weaponry .....many more casualties huge huge cost
For Ukraine ....the west helps bear the cost ......russia has no true freinds to do that .....the cost is theirs to bear alone
