Ukraine has criticized Switzerland for supporting the Chinese-Brazilian initiative.
From the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine:
✔️ The Ukrainian side is disappointed by the information regarding Switzerland's support for the so-called "Chinese-Brazilian consensus of six points."
✔️ We cannot understand the logic behind this decision. After all, together with the Swiss Confederation, we organized the First Global Peace Summit on June 15-16 in Burgenstock, which was attended by representatives from a hundred countries and international institutions. Our countries continue to actively collaborate to increase the number of signatories to the final communiqué of this summit.
✔️ Switzerland is participating in thematic conferences on specific points of the Peace Formula, aimed at preparing a comprehensive framework for restoring a sustainable and just peace for Ukraine.
✔️ We reiterate that all ideas, discussions, and plans for restoring peace in Ukraine must be based on two principles:
First, nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine.
Second, these proposals must adhere to the UN Charter and include respect for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders.
✔️ We are confident that such peace ideas can be discussed on the platform proposed by the Peace Summit. We consider President Volodymyr Zelensky's Peace Formula to be the only path to a comprehensive, just, and sustainable peace. There is no need to create additional formats and platforms for discussing ways to achieve peace for Ukraine. The Peace Formula provides a complete toolkit and appropriate venues for discussing ideas and consolidating various visions and concepts.
✔️ Any initiatives that do not clearly reference the UN Charter and do not guarantee the full restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity are unacceptable. Such "peace initiatives" only create an illusion of dialogue while the aggressor continues its criminal actions.
✔️ We urge the Swiss Confederation and all countries that support international law and the UN Charter to refrain from participating in so-called peace initiatives that could complicate the process of achieving comprehensive, just, and sustainable peace for Ukraine.
Initiatives that do not recognize the fact of Russia's unprovoked armed aggression against Ukraine equate the victim with the aggressor and propose de-escalation at the expense of Ukraine's sovereignty and territories cannot be supported by Ukraine.
It must be acknowledged that Switzerland's shift came as a surprise, considering their previous pro-Ukrainian stance.
