    You are absolutely correct.

The quickest way to stop a war is a cease fire agreement, followed by negotiations. Real negotiations, like what happened in 2022, when both sides sat down and tried to come to some sort of an agreement on a whole raft of issues. Negotiations that were potentially headed towards a successful conclusion. However the Ukrainian government was advised to pretty much abandon the negotiations process, which is what they have done.

I am surprised to see that people that allegedly support Ukraine want this war to continue. The Ukrainian government has already demonstrated it's inability to maintain that territorial integrity that they are constantly talking about. Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians dead, and Zelensky's progress on achieving his goal of restoring Ukraine within it's 1991 borders hasn't really progressed much. By the way, shall we talk about his original 2019 goal of making peace with Russia and sorting out an "autonomy" deal for Donetsk and Lugansk?

Since 2022, the Ukrainian government is the side that keeps avoiding direct dialogue with Russia. Banning themselves from negotiations. Saying anything to make it look like they want negotiations, when in reality all they have to do, is to approach the Russian government with realistic offers directly.
