Hi tangs (mate) There are no " ethics or sense of fairness" (your words) about war. For example just look at the athrocities of this war and that of the Middle East in particular. What's morally right is killing 42,000 Palestinians for the evil doing of a few?
In a broader sense, the same can be said about this Russian/Ukrainian war.
So to try to superimpose ethics on war is an oxymoran at best and utter hypocracy at worst.....so from an ethical point of view , take your pick...eh mate?
War is an. immoral means of solving a moral problem and as such advocating that is advocating that the end justifies the means which is in itself amoral or idealists would argue immoral (ala JS Mill ..Utilitarianism)
Utilitarianism as well a Eugenics was debunked by idealists post WW2 for very good reasons then although both are showing their heads again in the past 30 odd years mainly relating to US wars/proxy wars abroad.
