Forbes published an article about the threat of a coup in Ukraine and other potential negative consequences of a peace agreement based on the formula "NATO in exchange for territories."
According to the article's author, Melik Kaylan, this plan carries significant risks for Ukraine and Zelensky personally.
"Zelensky is being pressured to temporarily concede the occupied territories in exchange for promises of NATO membership. Once this process begins, ultranationalist elements in the military will rebel and stage a coup against Zelensky for 'surrendering' Donbass and Crimea. The West sharply condemns this, thereby alienating the military coup plotters. Putin floods Ukrainian media with propaganda about Western betrayal, insufficient and slow support for Ukraine, the West's willingness to use Ukraine as a puppet, and also criticizes Zelensky for centralizing power," writes Kaylan.
