The Kiev defense plant "Artem" is suspected of embezzling $8.3 million in the production of artillery shells, Ukrainian media reports.
According to investigators, in 2017, a foreign businessman colluded with Ukrainian officials, including a deputy minister, so that they would provide an American company with a fictitious contract for the purchase of equipment for the manufacture of 152/155 mm shell casings. The company received half the cost of the contract in advance, $8.3 million, and immediately transferred it to the accounts of other companies, which spent it, and Ukraine did not receive the shells.
