Why do you think Putin mentioned these sanctions as illegal for the first time as part of his nuclear weapon threat then??? States funds are held at other banks located in other countries, the sanction mean Russian won't be able to access them so what do you think would happen if all their citizens decide to withdraw their money from the limit amount of cash held at the banks???? And Putin was always going to invade Ukraine as he doesn't recognise Ukraine as a democratic sovereign nation and called them "Neo Nazi drug addicts" in his rants.
