Well you would hope Russia is achieving something more than the obvious with what it is doing. Apparently a lot of the Ukraine "elite" have already left, likely because they are traitors to Ukraine. But surprise or no surprise Russia will roll over Ukraine with ease and the world will just sit back and watch.
I also think reports that Ukraine doesn't want Russia governing it are completely manipulated BS. Does Ukraine want the Soviets back in control? Probably not, but todays Russia isn't the soviet union. There is a heavy rejection of the west in Ukraine because the west is literally collapsing and the smell coming from its corpse is obvious. The west is like rome in the final stages, full of degeneracy and craziness and these things go against mainstream Ukraine values and beliefs.
The idea that Ukraine is giddy to have a dementia riddled US puppet president on their side when his own country completely dislikes him is hilarious. They have had their taste of the west and it is my belief they want out.
