I tell the odd white lie but I do think honesty is important for me , for pollies and for leaders .Putin makes a habit of falsehoods .

The point I ws making though is not to take at face value the things he says - motivation for the war was clearly Donbas , Crimea Russia link and I think he also intended to topple the regime ,(big push on Kyiv that failed) .

As far as I can see the way to understand Putin isn't by listening to what he says but by watching his actions .He's now given up on Kyiv and with it all the pretexts for invading ( nazis and NATO) ..... and gone for the real objective Donbas .Call me cynical if you like .
