Nato countries border Russia elsewhere. I don't see him invading them.
As far as I know Ukraine has never threatened Russia.
The idea that Ukraine joining Nato is some how any more of a threat to Russia than any other nato country, that share's the Russian border is just simply dumb.
We are not seeing the consequences of not listening.
We are seeing the consequences of deals done behind closed doors with a nod and a wink that the US has walked back from.
The US in this instance are certainly not blameless. They were supposed to protect Ukraine after the fall of the Berlin wall in exchange for Ukraine getting rid of its Nukes. Which it did.
The US have proved they are only friendly when it suits them and I doubt any country will trust them ever again.
I doubt this would be happening if Ukraine had Nukes.
