    maybe

    the history is complicated

however, the problem is now and the solutions are more likely now - with mere roadsigns in the past --

and, only if they can be trusted

sometimes - we read things from the past - and, they are not helpful ---- because times have changed and the ground has changed beneath our feet

who knows what changes have made responses different now --

for example - we know that Russia has got undetectable hyper-sonic missiles - capable of reaching any point on earth - without being detected

how much has that made a difference to how the USA is responding? - or has it made no difference?

these matters are always very complex

the real worry about things like this is that if one doesn't halt matters very very very early - then actual wars begin to run their own course -

very much like the war has a life of it's own ---

you can see the writings of this from WW1, WW2 and many other wars ----------------- people lose control of it - it runs itself

it goes on and on and on - right through when the people fighting don't know what they are fighting for, why they are fighting etc.

it gets to a point where everyone just wants it to end - but, they don't know how to make that happen

if I haven't made that clear - I suggest that people visit Verdun and look at the vast amount of history recorded from there about the war

the time to stop this was indeed years ago - but, after a week and a half back - the urgency was to stop it within a couple of days

now - it's beginning to get a life of it's own - and, when a war gets a life of it's own - it writes it's own story --

that story can go anywhere when that stage really gets going
