The reality is that yes, the west is willing to fight to the last Ukrainian and put them into debt, but will back away from supplying anything much more advanced in terms of weaponry.
Ultimately both sides will become exhausted and it will finish .
Who holds how much territory at that point will -- hold that much territory.
The longer the range of weapons , the further back from Russia s borders the line will be.

The only other alternative is the implied one imo, and no one apart from the most miserable will cheer that on.
