It’s difficult to understand what you mean about ‘making things worse’ and ‘negotiations’.

It is obvious that you are extremely distressed that a war is going on and people are dying. I don’t know if you are a pacifist or a peacenik, but you are quite beside yourself over the fact that war is raging with the destruction and suffering that that entails.

I guess the obvious point would be that ‘negotiations’ should have continued in 2014 and 2022 prior to any Russian invasion, and then we would not be looking at any destruction and suffering at all, and you would not be so upset.

From the Ukrainian point of view, no preconditions for negotiation exist since their absolute bottom line is that Russia must withdraw from all illegally occupied sovereign Ukrainian territory. Since Russia will not do this, negotiations are utterly pointless.

If Western support is withdrawn, I am sure that the Russia goals will rapidly change, and would include seizing the entire southern coast including Odesa, thereby landlocking Ukraine. They would also try once again to seize Kyiv and install a puppet regime. The Western powers can see this very clearly based on the behaviour of the Russian regime to date, and Ukraine sees this as well.

You are distressed about the war continuing, but you then do some mental gymnastics and blame western weapons. But here’s some more obvious things you could blame -
1/ The Russian invasion, ongoing in various forms since 2014.
2/ The continuing Russian occupation of sovereign Ukrainian territory.

If you are truly desperate about this situation and desire peace at any price, maybe write a letter to Putin C/- The Kremlin and ask him to cease hostilities today and withdraw from sovereign Ukrainian territory. That would see the war end today, a war that should never have even started.

Moaning about western weapons deliveries and lack of ‘negotiations’ will not achieve anything, it is just passing the buck on where blame should be apportioned.

Ultimately, Ukrainians would rather fight and possibly die rather than see their country occupied by Russia. All the hand-wringing and sleepless nights worrying about ongoing war is not going to change that. It is their decision, and friendly nations support them.
