Rubbish @tigmeister, you are writing without researching about Katyn, it wasnt the Germans who committed the war crime.
All the evidence is there including that those shot were in Russian custody before and at the time - not in German custody !!!!!!!!!

Also there are a lot of documentary films where the Russian villagers near the site testified that they saw Russian trucks
and soldiers and agents talking in Russian driving towards the forest.
There are couple of docs about this that Ive seen where these Russian peasants near Katyn were interviewed (film was made in the 80s I think)

Read the book about General Anders and his appeal to the Russians, asking where the hell are the thousands of Polish
prisoners that are nowhere to be found. He appealed to Stalin a couple of times and to the Russian authorities.

Also Stalin's signed letter confirming his order to commence the executions (Released by the Russians themselves!! in 1990)
And much much more evidence, incl the fact that the Germans were not in the area at the time of the massacre .

Also using the Luger to execute many of the Polish prisoners was nothing unusual.
Pistols were exchanged and interchanged from all sides during the war.
In fact the Polish VIZ pistol was greatly admired by the Germans and they would do anything to get their hands
on one (and they did)
The German's Walter pistol was prone to jamming (like in that scene from Schindlers List).
In fact the Nazis uncovered and raided the Viz pistol factory in Krakow which was secretly producing the pistol for the underground resistance, arrested everyone, but kept the factory producing the pistol from then on, just for themselves.

The other point to make is the Russians likely used the Luger to hide their war crime and divert the blame onto the Germans
