So, separatists in one country decided with the help of NATO and EU to establish an independent state on the territory of the sovereign country.  The separatists could have all moved to their motherland across the border if they did not want to live  in Serbia. They did not. NATO, through a brutal invasion of Serbia  assisted the separatists in creating an independent state. All good with that scenario.

Separatists in Ukraine want to create an independent state on the territory of the sovereign country. The separatists could have moved to their motherland land across the border if they did not like living in Ukraine. They did not. Russia, through a brutal invasion wants to assist  the separatists in an independent state being created. ???
