Well they certainly did. And Russia shot down a Korean 747 in peace time. And the Iranians shot down a civilian airliner last year. And China shot one down in the 1950s. But when the US did it they admitted it, paid compensation, prosecuted the person responsible and tried to make sure that mistakes like that won't happen again. But when Russia shot down a Malaysian Airliner over Ukraine, they not only tried to hide the fact but spun a transparent web of lies to try and evade responsibility. The BUK launcher was photographed being driven back to Russian territory. It undoubtedly was operated by Russians.
