No Putin won't do as he pleases because Ukraine is resisting him and frustrating his plans - despite your previous assurances that Kyiv was already gone. On paper Ukraine is massively outgunned, but that paper ledger didn't count for:
a) Ukrainian defiance
b) non-existent Russian morale
c) a Russian military strategy possibly suited to desert fighting against a few thousand rebels in Syria, but totally unsuited to a country of 40 million people.
