Western countries have been doing business with Russian citizens since Putin opened Russia to the world for the last 20 years, do you think they see a majority of the money Putin makes from exporting their resources to the world or from doing business with Western countries????

This is different to Crimea because Putin now has invaded a sovereign democratic country which we, the Western society are part of, hence the massive world wide 24 hours news coverage of this invasion. Ukraine buy their gas from the EU and not from Russia and the developed Asian countries (excluding China) have already placed sanction on Russia and publicly condemned Putin's action.

The longer this invasion last the heavier financial sanction, more news coverage of the brutality of the invasion and pressure of their own citizen will place on their leaders to distance the country from Putin. Why do you think China has censored the world "invasion" from state news??

The Western countries in Europe are putting in strategy to not rely on gas from Russia and you do know only a few small countries in Europe rely 100% on gas from Russia, a lot of the bigger countries source a high percentage elsewhere. As for oil, there are other countries as bigger producer as Russia. And more importantly, just last month Putin didn't invade Ukraine so no doubt this has totally changed whatever export agreement was signed.
