The other country has done great considering how it all started, but for the sake of the comparison, let’s put things in a perspective.

Feeble excuse. Japan and Germany were in ruins in 1945 and back to being among the world's wealthiest within 2 decades. Russia always seeks to blame others for their own failings - they need to look inwards.
