The urgent need to pivot away from Russian gas has now been exposed by the raft of issues cropping up which are inhibiting the Russians ability to supply. Russia is simply an unreliable partner and - war or no war - constant problems maintaining supply would have meant that Europe would have needed to move away from Russia and find other partners who are able to supply gas consistently. It seems that the pipeline that Russia uses is in a dilapidated state and the necessary funds have not been spent to keep it in a usable condition. No doubt these funds have found their way into the pockets of Putin regime cronies instead.
