They gave Manchuria to the Chinese government. Australia and USA did nothing. Almost lost at Guadalcanal and struggled at Iwo Jima, Russia smashed the 500,000 Japanese Army in Manchuria in 2 weeks. USA was fighting Japan for 4 years, and had to resort to atrocities, like firebombing and dropping Nuclear weapons on civilians. Japanese only surrendered after the Soviets occupied Manchuria, and they lost their slave labour and means of war from the continent. Even if USA invaded Japan, would of fought on. USA had heavy losses, and the people at home were exhausted from the war, and especially since it dragged on after the war in Europe was already finished. Japan could of fought the USA to a stalemate, like Vietnam
