what I had in mind wasn't so much Stalins leadership but the effort the soldiers and workers put in
the defense of Stalingrad , heard it said the toughest men were the women
and the rapid production of , admittedly a fairly vanilla ,tank that replaced the huge losses the USSR had and was critical in defeating germany

was certainly a lot more sacrifice than they were willing to make in Ukraine , (who could blame them)
