    Putin just wants the region around the Crimea.......because NATO presence in that area would render Russian naval base in Crimea militarily obsolete

    invading Kiev is just a bargaining tool......standard Russian negotiation tactics.......demand everything......agree to half and pretend you are magnanimous by giving back half of what you stole

    anyone who has negotiated with Russians would recognize this tactic
