You sort of sum up to me why we are in this mess. It seems no matter what the US war machine does in the Middle East, there'll be some goose still saying it was justified 20 years later. Both the wars you mentioned ended disastrously, Afghanistan is unrivalled in the misery it has created.

The US has done many things unprovoked over the years. Covert actions all over the world to topple regimes that don't suit their agenda. Ukraine is one of many before it. The US citizens don't get much of a say in the matter.
