couple of differences with Germany after WW2 ...Hitler and the nazis were gone for one .... you notice I did say russia in the current form ...ie. Putin , oligarchs and a rigged system all replaced with a proper set of laws , democracy and respect for sovereignty

the other incentive to support Germany was as a bastion against communism
