    Let's apply this logic to the "common-man" level.

    If you leave your house for more than 12-24-48 hours, you forfeit your ownership rights to that house.

    If you leave your family for more than 12-24-48 hours, that would qualify as "abandonment". Anyone has the right to take your spot.

    Andy's concept sounds just as ridiculous as above examples.
