Bosnia and Herzegovina (1992–2004)

NATO was prominent in Bosnia during the early 1990s, and gradually its role became larger with some operations escalating, for instance Operation Sky Monitor turned into Operation Deny Flight which gave NATO "all measures necessary" to enforce a more stringent no-fly zone unlike Sky Monitor during which the no-fly zone was violated over 500 times. It took 46 years after NATO's inception in 1949 for the organization first ever military intervention took place in 1995, Operation Deliberate Force which was targeted the Army of Republika Srpska in Bosnia whose presence posed a danger to designated United Nations "safe areas". The air campaign helped bring about the Dayton Accords.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) carried out an aerial bombing campaign against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia during the Kosovo War. The air strikes lasted from 24 March 1999 to 10 June 1999.
NATO's intervention was prompted by Yugoslavia's bloodshed and ethnic cleansing of Albanians, which drove the Albanians into neighbouring countries and had the potential to destabilize the region.

Yes exactly ! And what happened from 1989 to 1991 ?
The stalinist regimes of the eastern block collapsed and the dissolution of the USSR occurred.
The US conducted plenty of coups, assassinations and wars during the cold war but they always had to consider and calculate the response of the 'Soviet block".
It was like a handbrake on Imperialism, a certain "stability' existed during the cold war.

But once all that broke up, imperialism was unleashed. The neo-cons proclaimed the uni polar world, it was the end of history and the US would reign as supreme ruler of a peaceful prosperous world .
But capitalism and Imperialism don't work like that.

The WSWS had a different view. That imperialism would embark on a new period of colonialism, new wars and would have to re conquer Russia and China, resulting in a new World War.
And that view has proven correct, as 30 years of unending US/NATO wars have shown.
