Like Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan & Syria, the US will likely pull the plug on the Ukraine as soon as its agenda is met and that will likely be when US public opinion makes further support for the Ukraine a vote looser.
In summary, this is a proxy US-Russia war with the Ukraine and its people simply being collateral damage and of course the US is itching to open up a Georgian front to stretch Russian war resources.
