    a myth .....Ukraine did not .........there were unacceptable conditions attached ---- leaving Ukraine defenceless and open to further attack at any time from russia and with no recourse possible from Ukraine - the demilitarisation and the agreement not to ever seek aid or alliance from the west .
    these conditions made agreement impossible and only a fool could put themselves in a position of trusting putin

    any deal MUST have - not a promise - but enforcable guarantees of no further russian aggression ......until putin can accept Ukraines absolute right to have their own military to protect themselves and that their elected government must remain there is no basis for negotiation .
    I'm sure staying out of NATO could be on the table but still would need some form of western force applied to make sure russia never attacks again - don't ever try and pretend here that putins word is enough !!!!
    Ukraine will not leave themselves prone and vulnerable .
