A bit of research is telling me your man is wrong, but if you twist the facts enough and assume your car will always be charged 100%off a coal power station for that 6 years,then you could come up with a figure like that.
Fortunately for me and my magnificent baritone singing that is nowhere near the case, as the world will soon be plugging into renewable power supplemented by silex fueled nuclear baseload power.
