    If it was a Russian who pulled the trigger, then I am sure he mistook it for an enemy plane, if it was a Ukrainian set-up of the Russians, then, of course, anti-Soviet propaganda. It could easily have been an honest error - the Malaysian airliner's route taken should have avoided war territory, but I guess pilots they change their flight paths in order to avoid certain weather conditions - I don't actually know how much liberty commercial flights have to deviate from their normal flight path.

    Of course many set-ups in aid of war throughout history remain ambiguous to this day and only slowly do the Poirots of the war history decipher the puzzles.
