Ok to manufacture if you have some type of competitive advantage , I doubt in heavy engineering at least there is a competitive advantage in Australia .
Why?. Because It is cheap to ship commodities globally and to where electricity and heating costs and labor are lower ie to China where both electric arc and bessimar furnaces are a lot cheaper to run than in Oz.
In light manufacturing there is probably an advantage due to there being some innovative industrial methods in Australia ie laser cladding , telecommunications
Plenty of opportunities in other areas though ie prawn farming on a mega scale ie SFG.
