Glauconite, don't confuse SOP with MOP... they are two completely different markets. MOP is ~70Mtns pa, while globally traded seaborne trade of SOP is just ~2Mts. Australia only imports 80 - 85,000tns pa of SOP, and none of it comes from Russia, Belarus or Ukraine. The war there has no impact on SOP, other than how it impacts MOP prices as an input for Mannheim SOP production.
There is no way the cost structure of SOP in Australia will match MOP (long term price of US$300/tn), even with the good doctor's tech. The long distances to market and FIFO cost structure mean they need the higher prices of SOP . If the cost of production was lower, arguably Beyondie (and all the other W.A. projects) would have been conceived as a much simpler MOP project without the complications of SOP.
