It an interesting question.
It avoids flotation which is painted as the standard technique but flotation is allegedly the cause of SO4’s problems. On the one hand it possibly introduces what some would consider a risk but on the other, if it is a success on a large scale, removes a potential issue.
The company claims the removal of flotation significantly reduces costs.
Presumably the whole package of back mix and processing is sufficient to remove enough halite to produce all grades of SOP. I’m not sure if this has been detailed beyond the PFS talking about a product of around 98%. I assume the back mix was part of what the German consultants called “state of the art”.
Ruane has invested a lot of time, effort and money into this. There is significant expertise at board level. I have more faith in RWD’s technical understanding than that of most (all) other WA SOP companies.
