The OP failed to recognise the significance of what he/she/they omitted. The press release suggested that their study found high levels of interferons in long covid cohort- and took that to suggest it was the immune system being still caused to respond. The reason for this was not sought as part of the study however it was suggested it may be viral fragments.
INFs are anti viral and anti inflammatory agents.
Sounds like a bag of CD4's might be better than a bag of MSCs
