I have read countless of these types of reports, and they are, in the most part, useless. To add to Madamswer's bulletproof mathematical reasoning, you also need to know how the authors have defined the market. To MSB holders, the definition of the Stem Cell Market might be self-evident, being companies that sell cells to hospitals who use them to treat patients.
However, allogeneic bone marrow transplants are classified as stem cell therapy, and so one might reasonably include all of the paraphernalia that accompanies those procedures, including, for example, immunosuppressive drugs, surgical costs and the like.
It almost certainly includes companies like CDI, whose cells are sold for research purposes only. It may include growth media companies, cord cell bank companies. It could include cancer stem cell companies, who use such cells as investigative models.
So this report in no way guides the reader as to the magnitude of the opportunity facing MSB or similar companies. For that, people should be looking at segments of the CHF market, RA or whatever.
