Is there a slim chance IMU is included in the ASX200 rebalance for June 2021? I believe the re-balance is announced after market close today ... please correct me if I am mistaken.

Back in mid-March when the last ASX200 and ASX300 index rebalance was announced, I reviewed the Market Caps of all new additions to the ASX200 and ASX300 and found the lowest MCs (as at 15 March 2021):

ASX300 new addition – Lowest MC:

ASX.360 = $613.8m (IMU MC now is 150% larger than this)

ASX200 new addition – Lowest MC:

ASX.HUB = $1.331b (IMU MC is currently 16% larger than this)

IMU’scurrent MC (as at 10/6/21) = $1.55B

Although MC is not the only criteria for ASX300 and ASX200 inclusion (other factors include liquidity, free float and average MC over the period etc etc), the above MC comparison implies IMU can be added to each index (at the next available rebalancing date):

My Conclusion:

Since ASX300 is only rebalanced 6 monthly (next in Sept 2021) and ASX200 quarterly (next in June 2021), IMU has a chance to be added to the ASX200 in June (before the ASX300 inclusion) based on current sp momentum and company fundamentals over the next two months.

Index funds, passive funds and even active managers benched marked against ASX200 should already have IMU well in their radar. If not, they will be scrambling for shares come 30 June ASX200 rebalancing.

Not long to wait for the June 2021 ASX200 rebalance. If IMU doesn't make it this quarter, it is not too long to wait to Sept 2021 rebalance.
